Allyson Huneycutt, Principal Clarinet
Allyson Huneycutt has been performing with the Butler County Symphony Orchestra since 2022. She is a clarinetist that also specializes in playing bass and E-flat clarinet. She freelances throughout the greater Pittsburgh area and often performs with the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, and various chamber groups.
Allyson has a special passion for new music and working with living composers. She is a founding member and executive director of new music ensemble NAT 28, an organization dedicated to premiering new and local works. In addition to playing, Allyson enjoys creating various media to accompany her live music – including a series of paintings for Lîla Quartet’s performances of Olivier Messiaen’s Quatuor pour la fin du temps.
Allyson holds both an Advanced Music Studies Certificate and a Master of Music in Performance from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania. Her teachers include Ron Samuels, Tommy Thompson, Dr. David Wetzel, and Janet Berlin. Allyson is an active educator herself and teaches band and orchestra at the Environmental Charter School in Pittsburgh.
