Matthew McCormack, Second Trumpet

Matthew McCormack currently serves as the Second Trumpet of the Butler County Symphony Orchestra. He appears with many orchestras and large performing groups throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area, including the Canton Symphony Orchestra, Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh, and the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh. As an active chamber musician, Matthew performs with many groups of varying styles, including the Brass Roots and the Wee Jamz.

Matthew has taught private trumpet lessons at Johnstonbaugh’s Music Center since the summer of 2016 and has since cultivated a large and successful studio of young musicians. His students have been selected to participate in many honor bands in the area, including PMEA, Allegheny Valley Honors Band, and the North District Catholic School Honor Band.

Matthew received his Masters of Music in Trumpet Performance and Advanced Musical Studies Certificate from Carnegie Mellon University and received his Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Oklahoma State University. His principal teachers include Micah Wilkinson, Neal Berntsen, George Vosburgh, Dr. Ryan Gardner, and Dr. Jonathan Martin.
