Jason Venesky, Tuba

Jason Venesky has been playing tuba with the Butler County Symphony Orchestra for 25 years. He is the Senior High Band Director at Armstrong Jr-Sr High School. He also teaches Introduction to Guitar and Music History and serves as the Technical Director of the auditorium. He is the Music Department Chair for the Armstrong School District, overseeing the music programs and teachers at the district’s eight schools. In addition, Jason is the music lesson instructor for tuba and euphonium at Grove City College. He has had a varied teaching career in the Armstrong School District over the past 26 years. During that time, he has served as Director of Choirs, Musical Theatre Director, Performing Arts Center Coordinator, Lighting Designer, and Assistant Band Director at Kittanning High School; Director of Bands at Kittanning Middle School; Director of Bands/Elementary Music Teacher at Shannock Valley Elementary; and Director of Bands at Ford City Jr-Sr High School.

In addition to performing with the Butler County Symphony, Jason is a founding member and manager of the Armstrong Brass Quintet, performs with the Windsor Brass Quintet, and plays Bass Trombone in the Gibbons Big Band. He has performed with the Altoona, McKeesport, Pittsburgh Civic, and Wheeling Symphony Orchestras as well as freelancing throughout the Pittsburgh area. As a conductor, he is the Music Director of the Kittanning Community Band, a community band that performs throughout Armstrong and surrounding counties and was the conductor and music director for the Armstrong Concert Band.

Jason is a graduate of East Brady High School and holds a B.F.A. in Music Performance (Tuba) and Music Education Certification from Carnegie Mellon University.
